The theme for this week's Photo Hunt is emotion(s). I would rather not inflict a photo of myself on the blogosphere and my cats seem only to do annoyed very well. Stretching the subject (oh how often I do this!) I thought of something that will provoke an emotional reaction in some viewers....but not a pleasant one in the case of arachnophobes
While photographing my beloved Cephalaria plant I saw my old friend the Crab Spider (Misumena vatia) on stake out in the hope of a passing insect.
Here is a closer macro shot of teh spider in all its glory. Enjoy!

Have a wonderful weekend. I am sorry, but I can't enjoy spiders!! it's the kind of emotion I don't enjoy but I love your flower!!
Hi Jams, some folks are going to scream and run from this post.
Wow - what amazing photos of the spider. I am not bothered by them. :-)
Happy Weekend.
fantastic one for today's theme... mine's up too hope you can drop by. Have a great week end!
Great photos Jams, what kind of camera do you have? Ugh I so do not like spiders of any kind but again the photos are very good.
I have a Nikon D200 Digital SLR Nunyaa. I used a macro lens and a specialist ring flash (the sort that fits on the front of the lens). I'm well set up for close up work which I like
Superb pictures!
Oh that's gorgeous! I like to look at spiders like that on flowers.
I DIDN'T like to look at the big wolf spider on our friend Mickey's blog this week. I had to close the laptop!
Hope you are having a great weekend. :)
ohhhh!!! perfect catch for photohunt theme... Have a fun weekend!
Awesome pics of the spidey!!! Yikes!!!
Happy photo hunting Jams, and thanks so much for stopping by :)
ha! that spider would really make my daughter emotional! Beautiful photos Jams. Have fun this weekend....
This is the first time I'm seeing a spider that's not the least hairy :P
Like I said on someone's blog... we will be feeling the emotions when we see these photos this week. Great Photos!!
ooooo I love it! Love was what you were going for right???? :) cool shot!
Happy Weekend!
Nice close up shot.
Jams, tomorrow morning, after breakfast, I shall ask Miss J. to have a look at your photos, and I am pretty sure - I'll be able to witness lots of emotions. :))
lovely macro shots! i love taking insect shots, too ... even if they do scare me! lol.
Those are excellent shots. Spiders are beautiful creatures.
Those are fabulous macro photos!
Happy Weekend!
love the macro shot. i just got myself a dslr a few months back and i am still trying to get the technique right when it comes to macro shots. i still have a long way to go :P
yikes! It looks ugly when close-up!
It's a lovely shot. You take awesome pictures. I'm like a clown with my silly shots. hehe....
This shot = fear!
My kids assume all spiders are Red Back Spiders which are pretty unpleasant. We finally saw one the other day. Not so big and it ran away very quickly.
Lovely pictures. Have a great weekend.
Ok Jams... I'm not freaking out but this crab spider looked very familiar. I almost threw my camera when one jump onto me while photographing it last year.. haha :P

You have to be like me Jams and post ancient photos of yourself. I'm sure you were a cute child.
Very good photo anyway, I don't mind spiders as long as they are not poisonous!
wow...wonderful macro shot.
thanks for drop at my PH.
I love this stake-out photo :)
Awesome pics ... what a wonderful take on the theme emotions :)
EEEEEK! We do NOT like spiders!
The spider looks as happy as a clam:)
my beloved Cephalaria plant
I can see how that would be the source of great emotion to you, Jams.
Cool shot, and a beauty of a spider - nothing to run from.
Have a good one!
Jams, I'm suffering from serious macro lens envy!
Great pictures and what an unusually clear-coloured spider!
wow thats a pretty shot of a flower...Happy hunting!
I wouldn't like to spend too much time examining this picture, but crab spiders are really quite attractive - honestly! - with their delicate colours. Beautiful shots. First you do a macro - then you macro that! Excellent!
Thanks everyone. I'm glad you like this week's photos.
Tarantula porn.
Both fascinating and repelling! Beautiful photos though!
Happy Weekend
L
Incredible shots! Just amazing. Yes, spiders certainly arouse some strong emotions in certain individuals!
Oh Red, the crab spider is only 1cm (about 1/2 inch) big. I suppose a trantula that likes its spiders "petite" might appreciate it!
Yikes, you made me shiver!!
And yes, not only your relatives but all the Dutch are in a very good mood and the streets will colour even more orange!! See my blogpost http://nirac.blogspot.com/2008/06/football-crazy.html
Have a nice weekend!
I never saw a spider that color before. I'll bet it would taste delicious!
you know what i was admiring very closely at my laptop screen. The picture is really cool! but if its live running in front of me...I would not just scream but would have run off a mile by now...hehehehe
Pearl - have a good weekend!
Great shot - it really does look like a crab, doesn't it? Can't say I've ever seen one of those spiders around here. Have a lovely weekend!
Jams, you accomplished it for sure. I hate spiders and snakes. But I can tolerate spiders. hehehehehe
ewwwwww you should have put a warning up! I hate spiders!
as much as I love seeing different life forms (even bugs) I have to admit that spiders give me a bit of the chills. I don't know if I'd get in close enough to get that great macro shot of the spider!
creepy...yay! =D happy weekend!
I'm all for stretching the subject :) Great shot! I took a picture of a poppy a few weeks ago and it wasn't until I looked at the picture later that I spotted the crab spider.
LOve these pics and your plant...great shots
The detail is so good, the last one is going to give me nightmares!
That's actually a cool shot! I can handle a spider, as long as it's not huge! But show a snake and I'm outta here!!! ;)
Thanks for visiting my photo hunt! Have a great weekend!
while spiders may not b my best frens, i love this pic of yrs. well done this week
Great photos. They certainly provoked an emotional response in me.
((shudder))
Thanks everyone!
That's a creepy spider!! AAARRGGGHHHHH!!!!
Thanks for visiting.
As much as I don't like spiders, I think these photos are excellent.
You are right, lol ! I AM DISGUSTED !!
Oh, that is one scary spider! I like your flower though. I chose cats myself.
that's a really awesome shot!

Lovely stretching, Jams. I have never seen a spider that looks like a crab. I am not greatly fond of spiders, but I do not mind them in pictures at all, so my emotion was not fear but fascination!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
seriously, i felt creeped glancing at the close up of the flower.
great photo i know.
c",) Morning Sniffles
You really are well-versed in the art of turning the photohunt theme to your liking LOL!! Great shots. I love macro photography. I hate spiders, by the way, but on a photo they don't bother me. I suppose that's a healthy sign, right?
Happy Weekend! I'm saddened that I saw your comment too late last night. I had 9 bloody tickets to give away and no-one to give them too. Ain't that sad?!
Wonderful - I can feel the emotions from all the readers :)
Ooh! Well, as long as he stays outside and catches bugs!
fantastic!!! I'm speechless. The bloom doesn't seem all that inviting for visitors, either. I actually caught a flower (crab) spider killing a butterfly that it had caught. I had no idea this drama was going on in the flowers.
