  1. Wow. I never imagined this, yet I can't imagine a different grave for that brilliant man.

  2. @_@ That's a lot of kiss marks on that statue!

  3. I would of guessed and wrongly so, that this was a statue from the terracotta army, how uneducated is that :)

Those are real lip marks or somebody painted them?? Not sure whether to appreciate or not.

  13. Hi Jams, this is a nice post. Of course I couldn't let it go without checking the cemetery and his grave (On-line).
No, I haven't been in this cemetery but have walked right by it.
"Find A Grave" tells why he is burried there and shows the whole tombstone.

  21. Ah, Jams, this heightens my wish to once ramble along this very cemetery, before taking a dwelling six feet under, myself.

Wow, that's amazing and very appropriate.

  28. I adore Oscar Wilde, but had never seen this wonderful image till your post. I agree with many - what could possibly symbolize Oscar Wilde more than those kisses bestowed all over that face? The only thing worse than having lipstick all over one's memorial is not having any at all.

  29. WOW - what a strong draw he still has!

  30. It looks like she's about to kiss him! Something I learned from you today.

Hmmm.... The Hollywood Cemetery has to replace the marble plaque on Rudolph Valentino's grave periodically because the lipstick causes the marble to deteriorate. Looks like they might have a similar problem there.

  33. very interesting..

    happy WW!

  43. Wow, that's an adorable face and very interesting!

    ReplyDelete
  44. That's typical for père Lachaise cemetary, lol ! When I was there young druggies had put joints and syrenges on Jim Morrison's grave, now there are guardians and a fence around !

    ReplyDelete
  45. Thanks everyone... The graffiti on Oscar's memorial is of a higher standard. When I was there, the only guardian was a ginger and white cat who enjoyed all the attention given!
