The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

An extract of this song was used as the theme music for ITV's Sunday lunchtime political programme Weekend World. For some reason it lodged in my head yesterday morning and just wouldn't leave.
