  6. Is it blasphemous to say that my first thought was of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

Great photo! Not certain how I feel, but I do understand that there is some controversy about returning these to Greece.

  11. Hi Jams, I am wondering what color this piece is or was? I did look up the Elgin Marble Company in Scotland,
BUT, is this one of those that will be put back in the Parthenon?
    Happy WW!

Hi Jams - When I saw the photo I was going to ask you if you thought they would ever be returned to Greece, but I see you have answered the question in your comment above. I am among those who would like to see the Elgin marbles returned to their country of origin.

    Happy WW.

  18. Too bad they didn't have rebar back in the day. This poor soul along with Venus de Milo, could've used some support with the extremities!
You'll have to excuse me - I've got election burn out...

Photos like that always make me sad. Masterworks of antiquity so badly damaged. I can only wish to see them as the artist completed them.

  21. I have seen a lot of these in Greece ! They are all damaged. It's a pity !

Interesting piece of art, Jams. Past, present location and discussion about the future makes it even more interesting, if at all possible!
