The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Och, Jams, there are so many ghosts around, these days. Is it the German war minister, explaining that two bombs - each weighing 500 pounds (!) - had to be launched against two stolen road tankers, in order to defend Germany at the Hindukush?
