Gallarus Oratory
The Gallarus Oratory, on the Dingle peninsula, Co Kerry, Ireland. It is not exactly certain when this building was erected (perhaps 9th Century) but it is almost certainly the oldest intact building in Ireland
One of those places, I'd not miss to visit when visiting Ireland. So far, I was lucky. It's a wonderful place ... as long as there are no tourists around.
That is a really interesting structure. The photo works well in B&W.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cherie!
ReplyDeleteMy granddad was a north country stone mason. I'm sure he would have been pleased to have seen this magnificent example.
ReplyDeleteLooks like superb stonework. That it has survived so long tells its own story.
ReplyDeleteI bet he would have loved it Susan
