I was
delighted to receive just recently a gift of this drawing from from
Elahe Heidari, an artist and dear friend who lives in Tehran.

Ever since I first saw her work a few years ago I have been taken by its sheer power of her work, particularly her portrayal of women. It is heartening that most who see examples of her work are deeply impressed and more than a few feel as strongly about it as I do.

More
examples of her work can be found at
Kargah, a major
Iranian art website (click on her name
above and at
Gallery Etemad.

This is a painting she gave me two years ago. It takes pride of place on my wall. I know this is rather a wordy entry for what should is a wordless meme but what the hey - call it a
wordless Wednesday with commentary!
I LOVE the painting!! Have a wonderful Wordless Wednesday!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it. I am so delighted to receive it
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool present! I like art received as a gift, better than choosing yourself somehow.

ReplyDeleteWonderful artwork! Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteWhat a powerful drawing! The painting is quite nice too, thank you for sharing them, and the link. I too tend to be a little wordy for WW :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the first drawing, I'm not good at saying things about art though so that's as much as I'm going to attempt on this one.
ReplyDeleteThey are very nice. Is there a reason the woman doesn't have a mouth? My first thought is that male dominated world in which she lives. Excellent post.
ReplyDeleteMy first WW this week, and what a treat for the eyes - and a great commentary.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
Mine's up.
Frances

ReplyDeleteI've admired the faulous art on your blog for nearly a year now. I guess I missed the fact that you actually own some of these pieces. Myself? I have an original Elvis in leopard print jumpsuit on a velvet canvas hanging above the sofa. Jealous much?
I wish I had more art. I love it so. You're a lucky guy
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous work. Thank you so much for sharing about it , how you got it and the artist.

Elvis in a leopard print ewbl- I am jealous!? WHY isnit it in an art gallery???
Wonderful art work. It could almost go with the writing of the Persian writer, Sadeq Hedayat.
