  16. An incredible shot! I was trying to capture a bee at work the other day, and nothing came out even close to this. Feel like sharing your secrets?

    ReplyDelete
  17. Again Thanks for your kind words.

Jenn I there is no real secret. I have a macro lens which allows me to get in very close to my subjects. I get the depth of field by stopping down as far as I can without making the image too dark. When I load the image I crop slightly (but only slightly) and adjust teh brightness and contrast a little. I do manipulate my images but only a little.

  18. Jams you are so tallented but there's no way I could get close to something that might turn around & bite/sting/flutter at me!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Beautiful picture! Don't think I want to get that close to a bee :)

  20. A hoverfly? Looks like a bee to me. No matter, he's beautiful.

Excellent detail and use of macro photography. Even the petals in the flower and veins in the leaf are visible.

Thanks for stopping by to check out the shots of my pre-teen drama queens!

Sneaky hoverfly, pretending to be a wasp!

Great photo, and brilliantly crisp focusing which is no mean feat for this type of shot.

  46. Excellent shot

By the way the cartoon guy does have a blog. His link is under the picture.

  47. Cool picture! I love pictures of bugs... how do you get close enough to take it?? I saw another one of a butterfly on a flower, that someone took. When I try to take pictures like that, they come out just like specks. (Or it may be because my camera doesn't have ZOOM!)

  48. Once again, thanks all!

  49. You always have such beautiful and interesting photos Jam-O.

Always a pleasure to share WW with you.

  50. Hmmm

The coloquial term for that type of insect in the States is Yellow Jackets.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Thanks Mags. I thought yellow jackets were wasps Beakerkin. The hover fly just uses wasp like camouflage.

    ReplyDelete
  52. wasp unicoloured? Ah I think we have a case of different use of the word. Here the most common wasps are yellow and black.
