The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Wordless Wednesday - Last fuchsia of the season
This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday edition of Wordless Wednesday. The frosts have finally come and killed off most of our remaining flowers. The Thalia is not frost hardy so it has gone into the greenhouse for the winter. At least it will only be a couple of months until we see the first Snowdrops.

awwww.... no more beautiful flowers for the next couple of months. I'm looking forward to the flowers in Spring. :)
Wow…what a great picture! It looks like it is situated a bit out of time and reality in your shot.
Gorgeous shot as usual!
Mine is up here;
Wordless
Happy WW-Tuesday!
Can't wait for spring. I am chomping at the bit already.
Nice picture. Happy WW.
Thanks everyone!
That's a lovely pic, as ever. Not got my Wordless Wednesday pic posted yet - just wanted to let you know you have another award.
I love flowers :D thanks for the visit
To the very end this flower is beautiful! Your photo is downright elegant.
Last one! Hmmmm. I can't wait to see what you have next week.
Thank you, Jams, for showing us this pretty flower.
I post the 'last rose of summer' picture on my other blog. This year I have one from the Robert Burns birthplace in Alloway, Ayrshire, Scotland. The roses are still blooming around here in Texas.
My roots are partly in Isle of Man (Corkill's), partly in England (Fletcher's), the rest in Germany.
Happy WW/WT!
..

Happy WW!
Beautiful Fuschia! I don't know very much about flowers, but I like what I see! Great shot!
Yep, all the beautiful flowers of summer are gone. I don't like the winter. Have a great WW. :)
A very glamorous one too!
Thanks everyone. Lady Macleod Morrocco mus be beautiful at that time of year.
Beautiful flower! Too bad it's the last one...
Beautiful shot. I hope you'll understand if I don't feel too sorry for you today that you've had some frost -- it's -26C here today; -36 with the windchill. Our flowers have all been dead for a couple of months already!
Nice shot Jams! Good WW to you!
Such a lovely flower.
that's so pretty!
It's beautiful. Thanks for sharing such brilliant colored as we begin to most of it. Happy Ww!
This is one of the best flower shots I've seen for a long time. So very beautiful!

My goodness, that is a captivating photo!
beautifully captured macro shot..... the best kind for flowers. nice to know this lil one is tucked away safely for the winter. :)
Absolutely beautiful. Happy WW.
Jams, that shot is simply AMAZING. Perfect.
=:)
For being the last survivor, it is a very lovely reminder of the season gone by.
You've got a great photo here... Love it!... Happy WW... Have a nice day!...c",) Thanks for visiting mine!...
Wonderful share for today’s ww!
Thanks for visiting earlier.
That's beautiful! :) That darn frost kills so much beauty every year. Good thing it can be beautiful sometimes too! :)
My Wordless Wednesday is up too! Have a great day! :)
I just brought in my last geranium and lobelia from the front porch last night. The Christmas cactus is about to bloom out in the cold garage. Inside, the aloe is perking along. LOL I even have a pink shrub rose still blooming, the little Dear. :) Happy WW! I always enjoy your photos.
Thanks everyone!
Beautiful shot. It's a bit sad to watch everything wither and to know that we're into winter proper.
Is that from your garden? It's so pretty!
Great WW photo! The trees and flowers are gone here in Ohio...
I have a George Bush cartoon waiting for you.
peace, Villager
Beautiful!!
It has been very mild here, and we still have a few blooms on the roses, although the frost the other night finished off the fuchsias and bedding.
I'm thankful for winter because its the only three months out of the year that we don't have high electric bills due to running the air conditioning non-stop.
I like the black background you added on this one jams. Very artistic!
Very beautiful shot :)
Wow, it is such a nice photo. Thanks for visiting.
jams, it's beautiful! I have a new uone up for WW on Wednesday! Thanks for visit yesterday. :)
Thanks everyone! Conversely our bills soar as the heating goes on ewbl. I get the black effect by choosing a subject with as little background clutter as possible. A high depth of field combined with a weak flash (then Ring Flash does not throw a strong light) illuminates the subject but does not illuminate what is behind (or not much). To fully blacken the background I simply play with light and contrast levels.
looks very exotic :)
Gorgeous WW pic!
Beautiful! That is a great picture.
What a beautiful shot!
As always, a beautiful shot. Happy WW!
Another beautiful flower shop. You must have quite the green thumb.
Stunning photo! I love it! :-)
Happy WW!
Brilliant entry
You always take such beautiful flower photos!
that is a beautiful flower! happy ww.
Happy WW... nice flower.
Bark, bark. Nice picture. Happy Woofless Wednesday
Thanks everyone!
So beautiful! I won't be seeing any flowers for a few months now (in real life) so it's nice to enjoy the pictures.
So that is a fuschia. It's a beautiful flower in a wonderful photograph. But in a couple months you have snowdrops?? that's nice and early. I'm looking forward to your photos of them!
