The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Thanks, I needed that, jams. Glad to see your net connection has returned.
Punk first emerged just about the time I was studying and teaching music at university as a grad student. My ancient car radio would receive only a few stations in those days. One played a lot of punk in its various flavors, and I became very fond of it on my drive to and from campus.
Hi all I'm glad you enjoyed it. Homicide is definitely a personal favourite of mine.
I was 13/14 when punk exploded. I was just a little too young to be a punk but there was nothing like it - It didn't stop the charts being filled with Leo Sayer etc but it had such a profound effect which we still feel in popular music to this day.
