WW - Staigue Fort

  14. Is that another one of those structures built with no mortar? You had one a week or two ago that had been standing like that for several hundred years, and this looks like the same period. Must have been a very imposing place in its day, eh?

  18. Hi James, this is a neat old fort. I read about it in the Wikipedia link and see that we must have driven right past it a couple of times doint the Ring of Kerry.
    I do not remember any signs or notes on the maps or our little guide book either. I wonder how far off the rode it is, I will check.

  34. What a great old stone fort. I love the contrast of the stone and the ruins to the deep green hills.

    The landscape in these photos always has a very stark quality to it that I find intriguing.
