The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Is that another one of those structures built with no mortar? You had one a week or two ago that had been standing like that for several hundred years, and this looks like the same period. Must have been a very imposing place in its day, eh? Very cool series! -Mojo
Hi James, this is a neat old fort. I read about it in the Wikipedia link and see that we must have driven right past it a couple of times doint the Ring of Kerry. I do not remember any signs or notes on the maps or our little guide book either. I wonder how far off the rode it is, I will check. Thank you for peeking in on my 'sleeping dog.' ..
Really wonderful. I don't know which I like more, the marvelous stone fort, or the very wonderful greener-than-green Irish landscape in the background.
OK, I've been to your beautiful country only once, but your pictures make me want to go again and again. I loved the two weeks my sister and I spent there, but look, you are always showing more wonderful places we should have gone. Beautiful as always!
