Kilmeady Castle, Milstreet Ireland

Hadleigh Castle, Essex UK
The theme for this week's
Photo Hunt is ruin(ed). There's no stretching the theme this week as I have some ruined castle shots that fit the bill. Actually I'm not sure I will actually sign up at tnchick's this week as I am indisposed until Sunday evening. If I get the chance then I will.
Now that's an early post!
ReplyDeleteBoth good shots. I've no idea yet what I'll be posting.
That lower shot is splendid.
ReplyDeleteI am doing a castle also.
Aileni, Dragonstar. Thanks. I'll be back on Sunday to see your entries
ReplyDeleteBoth are great shots but I am a sucker for black n white so I think the top one is my fav. :)
ReplyDeleteAfter these building being ruined only get famous and a lot of people want to visit.
ReplyDeleteI think you could have put in the ruined shots as well. Quite atmospheric, these ones, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI was born and brought up near Hadleigh castle. As a very young boy I was very excited at the thought there was a castle nearby.
ReplyDeleteMy first (and only) visit to the place may be the biggest anticlimax of my life - I had visions of battlements, moats, drawbridges, etc. and found a small pile of rocks.
Your photo actually makes it look more impressive than I remember it!
Those are wonderful ruins and you photographed them well.
ReplyDeleteLove your choices for the theme, the b/w picture is very dramatic, the second one is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, wherever you are!
I love both of those. Ruins are so beautiful! Hope you have/had a nice weekend.
ReplyDeletegreat shots. love those ruins. take care. hope you feel better.
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Jams! Perfect for the theme :)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos :-)
ReplyDeleteIt looks as though there's a lot missing from that second castle!
ReplyDeleteThat second shot is lovely. Love the sky and its background.
ReplyDeleteyou guys have so much cool old stuff james, I love the photo. I did photos from italy.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots both. Love the sky and surroundings in the Hadleigh Castle picture but the Irish one is the one that has me intrigued -- i.e., is that the home of its caretaker by it or...?
ReplyDeleteExcellent photos Jams. Lots of ruins in your part of the world. I had to scan some from my pre-digital days.
ReplyDeleteI haven't signed up at tnchick's for ages as I play Friday and always forget on Saturday when I am so busy.
Have g good weekend.
Nice ones! My ruined Irish castle shots are from my pre-digital days and stuck in the top of a closet. So I chose something else... Here's mine:

Have a great weekend!
I guess there's no shortage of ruined castles in Ireland and England.... the second one is amazing, it looks like someone sliced the castle open like a piece of cheese!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots. One of the failings of Australia is that there are not too many of these splendid ruins. We do have nice weather and the beer is cold. Can't have everything I suppose.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots - I especially like the second one - what a sky!
ReplyDeleteWhat perfect photos for this week's theme. I especially like the second photo - the contrast of the ruin against sky and fields - excellent!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you didn't "stretch" the theme; those are the kind of ruins I love! :) Hope you have a happy weekend! (I hesitate every single week to sign up on tnchick's blog, I hardly ever manage more than a handful visits. But hey, that is life! So don't worry about it...
ReplyDeleteI love these!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. I will; try to visit later
