Hadleigh Castle, Essex UKThe theme for this week's Photo Hunt is ruin(ed). There's no stretching the theme this week as I have some ruined castle shots that fit the bill. Actually I'm not sure I will actually sign up at tnchick's this week as I am indisposed until Sunday evening. If I get the chance then I will.

ReplyDeleteI think you could have put in the ruined shots as well. Quite atmospheric, these ones, by the way.
ReplyDeleteI was born and brought up near Hadleigh castle. As a very young boy I was very excited at the thought there was a castle nearby.
ReplyDeleteMy first (and only) visit to the place may be the biggest anticlimax of my life - I had visions of battlements, moats, drawbridges, etc. and found a small pile of rocks.
Your photo actually makes it look more impressive than I remember it!
Those are wonderful ruins and you photographed them well.

I guess there's no shortage of ruined castles in Ireland and England.... the second one is amazing, it looks like someone sliced the castle open like a piece of cheese!
ReplyDeleteFantastic shots. One of the failings of Australia is that there are not too many of these splendid ruins. We do have nice weather and the beer is cold. Can't have everything I suppose.
