WW - Valerian
Red valerian (Centranthus ruber)that has taken root in a neigbour's garden (top) and a single palnt in our front garden (bottom). This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of Wordless Wednesday.
Someone seems to have put some drops of valerian into my tea - sank on sofa yesterday night and fell asleep for almost twelve hours. - - - - - Great shot of your single plant, Jams.
I think I always called this Jupitors Beard! I LOVE That plant and that it spreads.. and blooms all summer... does it there, I basically was in the desert!
Love that second shot. The pink against the black works nicely.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful flower.
ReplyDeleteI used to grow Valerian in my garden but it grew rampantly so I ended up pulling it all out.
ReplyDeleteI like the contrast of the red and pink valerian in the first photo.

ReplyDeleteThe night shot of the flowers makes it look really lovely with the dark contrast of background behind :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice shots. I believe that some 'sleeping potions' are made from valerian.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, some how the single plant is even more striking than the row of them.

Thanks everyone, Sean I'm sure you needed that sleep!

That is some awesome color you have going there, what a treat to see!The larger version was well worth looking at!
ReplyDeleteI take tablets of Valerian Root most nights. They stink like nobody's business but are effective
ReplyDeleteThey are quite effective aren't they. Cats go wild for the roots too!
