The theme for the week's
Photo Hunt is memorial. This statue is the Fleet Air Arm memorial on the embankment not far
from the Houses of Parliament. I love it. It's one of the eeriest statue I have ever seen.
NB Fleet Air Arm is the name for the Royal Navy's aviation wing
It is beautiful, and eerie at the same time. Perfect choice for this theme.
ReplyDeleteeerie yes. i marvel at how the artist's mind work sometimes.
ReplyDeleteenjoy the weekend.
ewok somehow seems to have anticipated my thoughts.
ReplyDeleteWow! I love it too but it's SO unusual for a military memorial. The first photo almost looks like Voldemort or some evil movie creature. But then in the third photo, he looks like he might be cuddling a rescued cat. I'm curious as to how old it is?
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the theme! Happy weekend.
THanks. Annie I'm not sure how old it is. It can't be that old. I can't see thi being erected in the 40's or 50's!
ReplyDeleteThat is a fascinating statue, I must look it up next time I am near there.
ReplyDeleteIt does look eerie but captivating at the same time. The close up shot somehow shows a desolate look.
ReplyDeleteIt is an amazing statue Jams. Very interesting face.

ReplyDeletei agree, it's eerie yet powerful.
ReplyDeleteIf this was the face of a pilot it's of a man who's understood the horrors of war. It's uncanny yet very beautiful.

ReplyDeleteYou may want to remember the poor cats that are kicked out of their island in Singapore.
Oh it is eerie. I have never seen a memorial anything like that.
ReplyDeleteInstantly I thought of some sci-fi humanoid bat! It does capture the superhuman spirit of the airmen! Incredible statue!
ReplyDeleteP.S. You were right about the connection with Guernica!
That's an interesting statue to look at.

You are right, eerie yet very interesting to look at. Great entry, thanks for stopping by my corner. :-)
ReplyDeleteEerie is right. I would also add "stark" and "dark" and "dramatic" and "moving".
ReplyDeleteMy photohunt post is up
That's not your average memorial. Nice take on the theme.
