The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is monthly. Here are a couple of concrete barges that have been left to rot at the side of the Thames for decades. The photo was taken at high tide. Tides having a monthly cycle I thought it would rooughly fit with the theme!
That's really an eyesore but eventually it would become a paradise for fishes. :P

You have the tides, I went for the moon :)
ReplyDeletemonthly...
It does look like an eyesore, but its a great take on this monthly theme. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks they are not very pretty but I'm glad they are there
ReplyDeleteI really like the photo - very sculptural for old rotting barges. And I'm so impressed with all the cool things people are coming up with for this hard theme. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteYah I was going to say they kinda ugly the place up but why are you glad that they're there? Do they prevent something from coming onshore or something?
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
For me they make interesting subjects but in the past they had been used as shore defences. Before thatthey would have been used in WWII
ReplyDeleteI think the monthly tides is a great idea for the theme. That's too bad that the barges have been left to rot.
ReplyDeletei guess it has something to with climate change. Great idea for the theme.
ReplyDeletehere's my entry
I think I stretched more this week than you, Jams! ;b
ReplyDeletePoor Spotty had his monthly bath this morning. His misery was well documented. He is almost dry and contented now.
ReplyDeleteTHanks everyone
ReplyDeleteI hope that sea creatures can use these barges as a alternate home. I read before that sunken ships can be transformed into a habitat for fish.
ReplyDeleteA very clever stretch of the theme! And those old barges certainly create very artistic shapes in the water!
ReplyDeleteNice take on the theme. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteLike your idea of the theme. Nice shot too!
ReplyDeletePhoto Hunt~Monthly
this is a good one. while almost everybody had a hard time finding one best photo for today's theme, you seem to have done it with ease he he
ReplyDeleteTides. . .I'd have never thought of that, but then I'm about 1000 miles from the closest thing effected by tides. Great take and thanks for dropping by my blog and seeing what causes the tides.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great interpretation of the theme.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Ah... I see we had the same thought but took it differently. I went with beach shots but you were able to show a very unique shot of a wreck. And in a river! What an interesting history of the barge. Great take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteWait, let me get this straight. Those are concrete boats?
ReplyDeletevery cool picture
ReplyDeletePerhaps an eyesore but a great shot.
ReplyDeleteCertainly an eyesore!!
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Lovely photo :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat take on this week's theme!
ReplyDeleteImagine the sum total of the 'junk' left rotting on our planet - frightening!
Anyway . . . I won't rant . .
Have a super weekend.
That's a very atmospheric and sad photo, jams.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
