Photo Hunt - Mother

The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is mother. Now I could have shown a phot0 of my female parent but she doesn't like to be photographed. So here is Bebe instead, Bebe was a feral cat before she came to us. She was born in a feral colony a few miles away. A person who used to feed them kept an eye on her when she was a kitten and when she had her first litter when she was little more than a kitten he took her to a cat shelter.

Bebe's kittens went quickly but nobody wanted a timid and rather wild young adult... except us. We took her in and gradually she developed into an affectionate if still a bit timid, housecat

  1. What a beauty. I am so glad you took her in! I volunteer at a cat sanctuary and we have a bunch of semi-feral cats, and I wish more people were up for the challenge of adopting them.

    Have a great weekend.

  2. We honestly felt we could not let her there when she could ahve a comfortable home. The biggest help is pit alpha cat Robyn who she is devoted to

Jams, have you been celebrating the lack of Conservative majority a bit too much?

    "phot", "loke", "milkes"

  7. I am really glad you took her in. Ours is also rescued. She was a stray and got picked up and deposited in animal shelter where we found here.

Today, a month later, she is adjusting to her "diva" status in our household. I love coming home to find her at the top of the stairs waiting for me and the treats I would give her.

I don't have kids, but I consider Emma my kid :)

  10. Do you think some cats look female or male? I suppose it's not possible but it just seems that way.

  15. Bebe is always a strikingly good-looking cat, and that's a great photo of her.

Get used to the names "Esther" and "Lily" on my blog: in less than a month now, Esther, herself a young mom-cat, and Lily, one of Esther's five kittens, will join our household. We're waiting for Esther's kittens to be weaned. Stella goes to visit them as often as possible; I haven't met them yet, but they look very sweet in photos. I suppose I can talk about it now that Stella signed the official adoption papers today. Come meet them in about a month on my blog... oh, I've so missed having cats around!

  16. I lived in a group house in Philadelphia with a cat that used to be a stray before being taken in by her owner. I have fond memories of Freya (the cat) -- more so than many of my (and her) house mates, in fact! :D

What a great story. I have two rescue cats at home - latest one a kitten aptly named Loki. The other one, Azar, was taken in 15 years ago. Bebe was so lucky that you took her in, but I'm sure you feel lucky too. They sure have a way of getting into your heart.
