The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is natural. I could have gone off into the countryside to photograph some hatural landscape but that hardly exists in England - the landscape you see has been carefully (or carelessly) created by human hands over centuries.
The same goes to a lesser extent in Ireland. You try to take a photgraph of a mountain top and some early Irish men put a cairn on top of it! I give up

ReplyDeleteYour comments made me laugh and now that I think about it, it is pretty hard to find something truly natural these days. Regardless, I think the cairn is cool looking on that mountain.

Now that you mention it, it is difficult to find a natural landscape nowadays that has not been touched by human hands.

ReplyDeleteHmmm - paps of Anu - Here in Oz our locals have adopted "white fella" slang quite effectively - in the wild Pilbara area there are many "Titty Hills". I must post some :)

Yes, it's easy to forget that a lot of our 'natural' landscape is actually man-made.

YTSL.. true, but I have no phots from Scotland or Wales... even in the Lakes you see the hand of man.. one of the lakes is actually a man made reservoir!
It's like trying to find ANYWHERE to view the Northern Lights around here. Anywhere which doesn't have lights shining directly in your eyes has trees blocking the view in whatever direction you are trying to see.

Something quite haunting in that silhouette shape of the mountain! Almost like a message, in line with your thoughts, that we humans have darkened the natural landscape!

ReplyDeleteIt strange for me living in Canada to think that most of the UKs land has been manipulated by man. Here the exact opposite is true.
Love the feel of the clouds in your picture. I have climbed my share of peaks, but can't say I've ever felt the draw of adding a rock to the cairn.

ReplyDeleteMy take on natural was also about the interconnectedness of natural and artificial.
It looks like it was drawn with a crayon and filled in, dark. It has a feminine feel to it.
