The theme for the week's Photo Hunt is natural. I could have gone off into the countryside to photograph some hatural landscape but that hardly exists in England - the landscape you see has been carefully (or carelessly) created by human hands over centuries.
The same goes to a lesser extent in Ireland. You try to take a photgraph of a mountain top and some early Irish men put a cairn on top of it! I give up
The photograph is similar to others I have posted here. It is of one of the two Paps of Anu just inside Co Kerry
I am finding this photo a little sad... I do not know why... ?
ReplyDeletewonderful take on this week's theme. You're a "natural" (get it?)LOL
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the theme. It is so hard to find anywhere completely natural.
ReplyDeleteYour comments made me laugh and now that I think about it, it is pretty hard to find something truly natural these days. Regardless, I think the cairn is cool looking on that mountain.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend.
Annie, Carver It is very difficult here in England. Beautiful as the landscape is it has been heavily modified over the centuries
ReplyDeleteHaha thanks Bridget!
Nevin for me there is a stark beauty. I suppose it can e melancholy too
Now that you mention it, it is difficult to find a natural landscape nowadays that has not been touched by human hands.
ReplyDeleteGreat take on the theme. And yes melancholic is a word I'd use to describe this scene - naturally melancholic :)
Very close to the edge, Mr O'Donnell.
ReplyDeleteI feel there is more than one possible interpretation here ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat about Scotland and Wales? As for England... hmmm... what about parts of the Lake District? ;S
ReplyDeleteIt looks very structural and pyramidic.
ReplyDeleteHmmm - paps of Anu - Here in Oz our locals have adopted "white fella" slang quite effectively - in the wild Pilbara area there are many "Titty Hills". I must post some :)
ReplyDeleteOh, a great image for the theme. It got me thinking - - -
and i had to travel 536 kilometers to find something "natural".:p
ReplyDeletei had to google Paps of Anu--very interesting!
Yes, it's easy to forget that a lot of our 'natural' landscape is actually man-made.
ReplyDeleteSo natural and just soooo lovely. A bit lonesome and sad though but still lovely. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteI know that photo is slightly suggestive but it is an example of man affecting nature
YTSL.. true, but I have no phots from Scotland or Wales... even in the Lakes you see the hand of man.. one of the lakes is actually a man made reservoir!
It's like trying to find ANYWHERE to view the Northern Lights around here. Anywhere which doesn't have lights shining directly in your eyes has trees blocking the view in whatever direction you are trying to see.
ReplyDeleteAnd there are people who still maintain that humans are not having an effect on the atmosphere and climate. . . .
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, though.

ahah paps is the short term for that... :D
ReplyDeletethanks for the info. i've always thought Ireland to be naturally beautiful. anyway, that's the price of progress eh.
ReplyDeletehappy weekend! :)
Something quite haunting in that silhouette shape of the mountain! Almost like a message, in line with your thoughts, that we humans have darkened the natural landscape!
ReplyDeleteP.S. I can't believe it! My word verification is "bling"!!!!
Lovely photo! At first I thought it was a pyramid :)
ReplyDeleteIt strange for me living in Canada to think that most of the UKs land has been manipulated by man. Here the exact opposite is true.
Love the feel of the clouds in your picture. I have climbed my share of peaks, but can't say I've ever felt the draw of adding a rock to the cairn.
ReplyDeleteyou are so right..it's hard to find anything on earth that haven't been touched by the humand hand. happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteSo I guess natural is relative.
ReplyDeletealoha,
ReplyDeletei like your natural take for this post. i like the abstract nature of this photo
my natural post is on my plant blog today.
Don't you even have natural coastlines?
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend
Natural and lovely. Nice take on the theme.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
Liz @ MLC
There is a similar one in Glencoe
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteI like the starkness of it. It almost seems abstract.
ReplyDeleteMy take on natural was also about the interconnectedness of natural and artificial.
It looks like it was drawn with a crayon and filled in, dark. It has a feminine feel to it.
