The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

I have to say that I envy you the hardwood floor. I enjoyed such floors for almost 20 years in two different houses. Now I have thin carpet over (apparently) concrete slab in this apartment. Among its other flaws, the acoustics are terrible. Sigh!
What next, "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof"?

Thanks Steve! What you see is floorboards. One day we will get our finger out and put down the laminate we've meant to buy for over a year!
