The theme for the week's
Photo Hunt is black. I always try to get a black background to my macro photos as it provides a good contrast to the subject. This time the soil provides the background to a crab spider in transit between flowers. It does not spin a web but sits inside flowers waiting for insect to drop in.
Gasp! She is beautiful! :-D
ReplyDeleteI love the bright yellow against the black background... great job as always jams!
ReplyDeleteShe definitely shows up nicely with the black background! Happy weekend :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool looking creepy-crawly! I can definitely see why they are called crab spiders. The black does make her yellow body pop.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad you know who Johnny Cash is! I love him.
Happy May Day.
Thanks. Glad you like this one
ReplyDeleteLovely colour :-)
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job capturing the shot of the crab spider. It does stand out so well against the black background. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeletePretty cool take. I was thinking along the same lines as well.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend. See you next week.
AH! Great choice, Jams. I didn't even think of black as the background. Hmmm!
ReplyDeleteCool (and black) Good work Jams.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a big one! Yes, black background is best with macro photography :)
ReplyDeleteThis kind of weird looking spider can be found in the British Isles? Wow, that looks very... exotic! :D
ReplyDeletewhat a nice contrast. Happy weekend.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Jams. I need to learn how to do good macro shots. Never heard of a crab spider but sounds an interesting insect.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend to you.
I am glad to hear this is not its real size.
ReplyDeleteHappy PH and happy weeekend!
Nice macro shot of the spider. Looks pretty but definitely not looking friendly :P
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend Jams!
Great capture. I also used a black background this week.
ReplyDeleteIs she preggers?

ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Quite a creepy spooky shot of the spider with that black background! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteOriginal take on the black theme. You have turned it around -- a black background for the light spider! Very clever.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!

Thanks every one.
ReplyDeleteNurseM. she is not in a family way. Crab spiders usually have a bulbous abdomen
Ick! I hate spiders!

That is a scary looking little thing. Interesting information about how it gets its breakfast. Thanks for dropping by my blog and I hope I see you again soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very cool spider. I also love the WW shot of the crab spider that came up in the links at the bottom. I've seen them occasionally in our garden but not for a while.
ReplyDeleteI don't mind spiders too much, but that thing is creepy!
ReplyDeleteI love that crab spider. They are what I call flower guardians. You might like the crab spider in this rose I posted last year. http://healingmagichands.wordpress.com/2009/06/15/roses-in-bloom/
ReplyDeleteAnyway, you already know my photohunt is up because you came and visited. . . Thanks for the visit and the comment.
I'm hoping that's a really, really teeny spider.... Great shot though!
ReplyDeleteNice colour of the spider! Thanks for dropping by.
ReplyDeletenice contrast! thanks for your visit and sharing your thoughts about photographying strangers.
ReplyDeleteI am so not a bug person (and yes I know spiders are not technically bugs) but still, even so, I think this is a cool photo!
ReplyDeleteTHanks everyone
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot. I've never seen a real crab spider before.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachel. THey are stunning little creatures and harmless to us
