The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

They are so amazing! My (English) grandmother was allegedly terrified of dragonflies, as in phobic. I can't relate. I think they're one of the most wonderful creatures in the garden.
I guess this one had reached the end of its lifespan. :(

It is truly beautiful insect. I had never seen one up close before. Sadly the agency would not protect it Shirl found it dead yesterday

They really are beauties. Sadly it had. Still it would have laid plenty of eggs
