According to the Guardian yesterday the American satellite, Lunar Reconaisance Orbiter, has captured the sharpest images of a number of Apollo moon landing sites.
lunar reconnaissance orbiter got close enough to see the spacemen's path when they walked on the moon. The photos also show ruts left by a roving vehicle and even backpacks pitched out of the lunar landers before the US visitors returned to Earth.
From a distance of just 13 to 15 miles above the Moon's surface, LRO captured images of the Apollo 12, 14 and 17 landing sites.
