The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
I would say they did two great albums (Clash and Give em Enough Rope), a third that would ahve been an utter classic as a single rather than a double (London Calling) a couple of "could have been better" (Sandanista and Combat Rock) and one utter turkey (Cut the Crap)
Always worth a listen but hey with nothing interesting in the garden now and Friday already given over to cats.....

I saw a funny commercial where two guys try and decipher the lyrics to "Rock The Casbah" and settle for singing, "Stop The Catbox, Stop The Catbox!"
ReplyDeletethere were a couple of great ads for TDK tapes (I think) featuring mangled lyrics for Israelits and Into the Valley. I must see if they are on youtube
