The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

ReplyDeleteI'm not too keen on this. Looks like the artist internalized an Oscar Wilde habit and consumed a crapload of absenthe while sculpting.
ReplyDeleteReally, I hate the wavy lines and non-descript face. It's bordering on abstract art.
It reminds me of Michael Gambon who played Wilde in a tv series in the mid 80s.
ReplyDeleteIt isn't a particularly attractive piece, I do agree. WHat I liked about it was the texture and the lines, rahter hant the overall look.
It still reminds me of Ernest Hemingway on a particularly bad day.
ReplyDeleteOooh dear! I agree it isn't a very flattering picture of Wilde but he wasn't an oil painting in the first place!
