The theme of this week's Photo Hunt is rows. This photos was taken in one of the magazines of Tilbury Fort in Essex.
Tilbury Fort was the where Queen Elizabeth delivered the immortal words "I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a king, and of a king of England, too; and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realms".
The barrels were empty of course....
PhotoHunt

ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend
Aaaah, I love your barrel rows (I love wine)! Thanks for popping in over at my blog. I wish I had more time to keep reading yours, by the way, it is extremely interesting, both in terms of posts as well as photos. Great blog work! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks all. Sadly the barrels were for gunpowder rather than wine. On the other hand it was nicve imagining that I had DRUNK THEM ALL!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post: the history, the photographic effects. It all adds up to a powerful post.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that piece of history. Empty barrels? Wow, that was a great strategy.
ReplyDeleteCool photo and great quote! :) Wonderful choice for row. :)
ReplyDeletelove the photo effects
ReplyDeleteThanks for a little bit of history. I admire the Queen's words.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! :)
Great picure - I love the black and white. So, how do you know they were empty .... ;)
ReplyDeletecool row entry! thanks for adding the quote...
ReplyDeletegreat shot! too bad they are empty!
ReplyDeletesmiles, bee
THanks all.
ReplyDeleteA - Sadly I don't think Health and safety would be happy about full barrels of gunpowder in a tourist attraction!
Very interesting photo and I like the black and white.
ReplyDeleteThat's a cool photo
ReplyDeleteWho empty the kegs? Great picture
ReplyDeleteWow, those kegs could certainly hold an enormous amount of gunpowder, eh? That would certainly have kept the bad guys off QE's doorstep!
ReplyDeleteI bet the barrels were secretly stuffed with monkeys. According to the blurb on the outside of my kid's game, 'There's nothing more fun than a Barrel Of Monkeys!'
ReplyDeleteon the other hand what would it be like if the monkeys were pissed off? I daresay the fun would be massively reduced!
