WW - General

I went to the Terracotta Warior exhibition at the British Museum on Friday. The other half wanted a figurine so a figurine I bought! He will take pride of place in the front window. This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday edition of Wordless Wednesday.

That is beautiful. I've been to the British Museum... my favorite part was all of the marble and bronze statues.

  12. Jams, Bombay Company offer replicas of these warriors from the tomb in China. They were made of something that felt like terra cotta (and broke like terra cotta) and they were 3.5 -4 inches high. I bought 4 of them, all different and placed them on my fireplace mantle. I love them! They join my Asian decoration theme. How big and tall is your figurine?

  42. The exhibition must have been very interesting ! I remember I liked the Britihs Museum very much. So you bought a figure, he looks quite frightening, do you want to keep your visitors away, lol ?

I would love to go see that exhibit, though it might be a little creepy. I've seen one too many movies where those guys are just lying in wait for some prophesied ruler to awake them... yikes!

  50. Ah, the Museums... I haven't been in ages. I used to go almost every other weekend when I lived outside of Boston. I really need to move that up to priority status on my "To Do' list. Lovely post, Jams.

I also just saw you Crucifixion post, too. I am horrified that people would actually do that nowadays. It seems so... unspeakable to think they'd volunteer for it.

  51. Great photos - I like the general. He looks thoughtful and sad to me. Must be an amazing exhibit and more amazing to see the real thing on location. Very cool.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Interesting, and well photographed.

I don't think I have seen the Terra Cotta army figures in real life yet.

  53. Anonymous4:10 pm

That is very nice. He will do your window proud.

  54. I really like the texture of the statue--it reminds me of a little piece of carve slate we got on our honeymoon!

My WW post is up here: http://chezartz.com/?p=221

  62. My first thought - Ghengis Khan. Either that or my Gr. 8 teacher.

  63. Interesting figurine. He will make quite a statement in your front window... And, I loved the British Museum when I went last year. I was in awe of how much there is to see! I was also amazed at how many people walk around video-taping the exhibits, like the mummies, for example. I thought that very odd, so I pulled out my camera and joined in the fun! :D

  64. Fascinating and very fierce looking, but then, he is a warrior.
