Wordless Wednesday.

ReplyDeleteThe Terracotta Warriors are cool. I visited the exhibition when it was in Singapore. Happy WW(Tues) :-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with napaboaniya. I have seen lots of documentaries of the terracotta warriors -- and still lots more are being discovered. Amazing eh?
ReplyDeleteVery cool...Happy WW.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy. It is very dramatic!
ReplyDeleteOne handsome general... I should visit those terracota warriors, but would happy just to find them in local museums (which I've never visited :p)...
ReplyDeleteHappy WW! :)
That is beautiful. I've been to the British Museum... my favorite part was all of the marble and bronze statues.
ReplyDeleteJams, Bombay Company offer replicas of these warriors from the tomb in China. They were made of something that felt like terra cotta (and broke like terra cotta) and they were 3.5 -4 inches high. I bought 4 of them, all different and placed them on my fireplace mantle. I love them! They join my Asian decoration theme. How big and tall is your figurine?
ReplyDeleteimpressive carvings. :)
ReplyDeletehappy ww.

ReplyDeleteTeach, It's 16 inches tall so it's quite a good size.
Definitely the figurine James, the not-wife would not be happy to be displayed in the window!
Very nice Jams. Alison will be jealous you've been!
ReplyDeleteVery unique! I thank you for always taking the time to drop by my blog, it's very much appreciated.

ReplyDeleteVery interesting figurine! I hope he enjoys his new spot in your front window! :)
ReplyDeleteInteresting photos Jams! Very cool with the white background. Happy WW to you!
ReplyDeleteThe Chinese figurines always make me feel proud to be a Chinese. Ha! Ha! We have the Terracotta Exhibitions here too, in Malaysia. I've seen lots of them during my visit to China and whoops! they have it too in Britain. Wow! That's alot (= hehe... Happy WW (=

It's interesting to see one of that kind. Pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteahhh... I know him! I have several at home, bought from the place of origin. hehe....

ReplyDeleteLooks huge. I wonder of its dimension.

Makimeji
I have not seen a replica of these in person, only in pictures. You're so lucky for being able to purchase one.
ReplyDeleteThe exhibition must have been very interesting ! I remember I liked the Britihs Museum very much. So you bought a figure, he looks quite frightening, do you want to keep your visitors away, lol ?
ReplyDeleteLovely figurine! That exhibition might have been quite something to see!
ReplyDeleteInteresting figurine. Happy WW!
ReplyDeleteA bit scary image, nice shot though.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit.
I would love to go see that exhibit, though it might be a little creepy. I've seen one too many movies where those guys are just lying in wait for some prophesied ruler to awake them... yikes!
ReplyDeleteNice work.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting acquisition! I tend to collect giraffes ;--)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my OSI at Sacred Ruminations yesterday and leaving the link to your blog. It’s nice to meet you.
Hugs and blessings,
that is a pretty cool looking little figurine!
ReplyDeleteGenerally speaking interesting statue esp the color is different as always good shot
ReplyDeleteAh, the Museums... I haven't been in ages. I used to go almost every other weekend when I lived outside of Boston. I really need to move that up to priority status on my "To Do' list. Lovely post, Jams.
ReplyDeleteI also just saw you Crucifixion post, too. I am horrified that people would actually do that nowadays. It seems so... unspeakable to think they'd volunteer for it.
Great photos - I like the general. He looks thoughtful and sad to me. Must be an amazing exhibit and more amazing to see the real thing on location. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, and well photographed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have seen the Terra Cotta army figures in real life yet.
That is very nice. He will do your window proud.
ReplyDeleteI really like the texture of the statue--it reminds me of a little piece of carve slate we got on our honeymoon!
ReplyDeleteMy WW post is up here: http://chezartz.com/?p=221
Cheers!
Wow that is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone!
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting statue. How big is it?
ReplyDeleteHappy WW :-)
I've watched shows about these figures on the History Channel. Fascinating!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding figure! We have one similar as well in our window... scowling at the neighbours.
ReplyDeleteHe looks very fierce!
ReplyDeleteExcellent replicas both as photos and
ReplyDeletestatues
Stunning figurine! I've always been fascinated by them.
ReplyDeleteMy first thought - Ghengis Khan. Either that or my Gr. 8 teacher.
ReplyDeleteInteresting figurine. He will make quite a statement in your front window... And, I loved the British Museum when I went last year. I was in awe of how much there is to see! I was also amazed at how many people walk around video-taping the exhibits, like the mummies, for example. I thought that very odd, so I pulled out my camera and joined in the fun! :D
ReplyDeleteFascinating and very fierce looking, but then, he is a warrior.
ReplyDeleteit's amazing how sculptures such as this one, were made from terra cotta! thanks for sharing the photo! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone
