This week's entry for the Tuesday and Wednesday editions of Wordless Wednesday is an 18th century building in Hornchurch. It is now used by the local council as a venue for wedding receptions... My sister had her wedding breakfast and party here back in 1983.
I can't spend much time at the pc at the moment what with my leg being in plaster. I will try to get around to visit as many WW participants as I can.
Hope your leg gets better soon Jams! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!!
Hope your leg gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring:)
Tough time for a leg injury, best wishes on that.
ReplyDeleteThe photo almost looks Infrared.
Not a former MOD building then?
ReplyDeleteLangtons was also three times in row (1986-88) "Pub of the Year".
ReplyDeleteWell, the Langtons in Kilkenny.
What a stately building that is. At first glance, I thought a celebrity or a rich person lives in it.
ReplyDeleteSry to hear abt your leg. Get well soon!
THanks everyone.
ReplyDeleteI took this shot a couple of years ago with my Nikon D50 and an IR filter. THe IR effect isn't bad if I say so myself!
So that's what gave it this surreal quality! I'd wondered how you go that.
ReplyDeleteI agree jams... IR effect is quite impressive!
ReplyDeleteI used to use infrared film, that made every picture look like that.
ReplyDeleteDon't even ask about color infrared film. It's great if you want to do a portrait, and make the person look like a Zombie.
Glad you like the effect Nevin
ReplyDeleteAh an IR filter and a DSLR is so much easier Ren. I have never tried colour IR work though
Sexy cast! Yes, you SHOULD pimp it out - why is it white? Get some multi-colored marking pens and go out and ask perfect strangers to sign it!
ReplyDeleteHope you are better soon.
Happy Tuesday,

Hi Jams,
ReplyDeleteTake good care of yourself and don't worry about visiting while you're recuperating.
This looks like a wonderful place for a wedding reception or wedding breakfast. So beautiful!
Cheers, Carver
Wow...cool shot! Happy WW:)
ReplyDeleteIt looks magical!Best wishes for your leg!
ReplyDeleteThat's quite a place. I wonder if the folks who built it could have imagined its future purpose.
ReplyDeleteHappy WW! Ü
ReplyDeleteI hope you get better soon :)
ReplyDeleteThat place looks wonderful :)
Still in a cast? Poor jams.
ReplyDeleteThat building looks great for a wedding reception.
Interesting shot, I'm wondering about the coloring/brightness. I'm sure it's a nice place for wedding receptions.
ReplyDeleteSorry you're still in plater. Hope the leg recovery goes smoothly.
love the effect!... hope you'll recover soon :)...
ReplyDeleteCool effect on the shot. Hope your leg heals quickly. That is quite a cast you have.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really neat photo. Haunting!
ReplyDeleteSeems to be a great place for Weddings. Excellent photo work.
ReplyDeleteHope your leg will soon recover. My toe still hurts, byt it's better than it was some weeks ago.
It is a great place for a wedding Tor. Glad your toe is on the mend. I have 3-4 more weeks in this damned cast
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about your leg. Sounds like a lap top would come in handy. Pretty amazing how the blossoms on those trees just shimmer. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteWhat pretty trees outside that building. I'll bet many a wedding party has been photographed there.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about your leg. That's no fun at all. Heal well, and fast.
Love the effect, I also agree with James it does look like a MoD builidng!
ReplyDeleteI can't get that kind of 'old' in Oz. I can't imagine being able to just head out and pick me some incredibly old place to photograph, not without catching an international flight. Interesting look to the photo too. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been enjoying your recent posts (yes, do pimp the zimmer!), but I especially loved to see Langtons.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of old places being used now as a wedding reception. I hope your leg is feeling a lot better now.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked seeing Langtons again Alison
ReplyDeleteTHanks for your kind words Liza
I've been there a couple of times actually.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am from Havering.
Born and raised too.. Although it was still Essex when I was born!
