Photo Hunt - Technology aka Upminster Windmill

The theme for this week's Photo Hunt is technology so I have gone for some cutting edge stuff, or at least cutting edge for 1803 when it was built. This windmill is in Upminster about 3 miles from where I live. The photo was taken two years ago after it was damaged in a storm, Happily it looks far better now but I like the look of the windmill like this.

That is important technology there. Wind harnessing began the industrial revolution and hopefully will take us out of the damage caused by all the succeeding technologies.

  33. Wonderful photo as design/composition. And wonderful thought to remind us that the "cutting edge" of new technology is constantly becoming outdated.
    Great post, jams!

  34. It's a very haunting photo. Windmills are such elegant-looking creations. Funny that we both featured them today, albeit from opposite sides of the ages...

Thanks for visiting my Photo Hunt today. Have a great weekend.

  36. I love this picture of older technology - even if it was damaged. It is also interesting to me to see the windmills of UK. I'm used to seeing the ones in Holland where I lived for a bit. It is also neat that we have been able to transfer the technology from grinding grain to generating electricity.

  37. It is so cool to see all the different takes on this theme. Windmills were a popular subject but as cool as the new ones are there is nothing to beat the beauty of the old ones. Thanks for sharing.
