A personal review of 2009

Ach so 2009 comes to an end and I suppose a review is obligatory. For me 2009 was one of plans that did not come to fruition. The bike remains unridden, the photo projects remain un photographed but then I have had limited mobility for most of the year. I can walk unaided, but not too far and even now I daren't risk scrambling around some of the places I want to photograph.

At least I was only in that fucking cast for six weeks. Cycling and major photo projets will have to wait until next year. One thing I will never do is get annoyed with anyone who has to use a zimmer frame

On the cat front we bade farewell to our beloved Mimi in February. Mimi was just five years old when she died. She was severely disabled, crapped everywhere but the litter tray but she was so sweet and we loved her unconditionally

In July we took in a cat that needed a new place to live. It took him about three minutes to make himself at home!

And that was my event filled year. Sad, eh? Wishing both of my readers happy New Year

  1. I had an incredibly exciting year. I won a Flann O'Brien book, and my poetry was published (with other great poets) on a famous, well-known blog called The Poor Mouth.

Dear Jams, if you managed to re-learn how to walk, consider yourself a great man. And your photos are out of this world. All the best in 2010 to you, the not-wife, and your feline population.

  2. If you've read my other blog, you know I've disabilities that will never go away.

That you are walking again is good and something that will get better if you work at it. My ex was told about 30 years ago that IF I lived through the next 24 hours, I would be in a wheelchair the rest of my life. I walked out of the hospital 2 months later with a bit of assistance. Now I only use a cane on the rare bad days. Part of success is deciding that you can do it. I know you have been working hard -- just know that recovery takes time and comes in small doses.

Here's to a happy, prosperous and healthy New Year to you and yours!!!

  4. I enjoyed the ever confused Mimi who always seemed lost. It was a sad day for all of your readers as well.

Now for 2010 a picture of Ted with another cat in the same frame. How does such a lazy cat avoid all other cats

  5. Ah thanks Claudia. the revovery has been slow but I am getting there. I should be back at full strength again next summer

Kay, a snapped tendon does not compare to what you went through. For me it's been a slow but sure recovery, a bit too slow sadly

    Happy New Year Cherie

We still miss little Mimi Beakelin, Ted with another cat... Would one of him trying to hump Robyn do?

  9. We had a grey kitty like Mimi, named Mashka. She was a cranky old thing but God we loved her! I am so sorry you lost your Mimi, and at such a young age. But I'm glad you were adopted by the Handsome Orange One. (I have a Handsome Orange One as well!)

I missed the bit where you nailed your leg but that looks damn unpleasant!! I hope 2010 is a much better year for you and that you can be scrambling freely very soon.

  11. I'm not feeling very brilliant today. My obligatory annual self assessment usually leaves me feeling lackluster. I'll tell you a secret, your blog is the first one I visit whenever I sign on. Happy New Year, and thanks for giving the gorgeous orange kitty a good home.

    Happy new decade.

Should the same thing happen in 2019 you'll no doubt be able to get a new bionic leg in no time at all.

  17. Hi jams --

Hope you have a good 2010. My 2009 generally wasn't too bad, actually -- and I hope to write up something about it before too long. But it threatened to end pretty badly -- so on Dec 31, I was reduced to counting my blessings and thanking the stars that things managed to right themselves somewhat by that very day. :S

In short: hope 2010 is better for both of us -- and the world at large too!
