The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

I think I had one of them in a posh restaurant once; isn't it ordinarily called an artichoke..?!
It has a bit of an artichoke look but it isn't an artichoke. Hopefylly I will have a pich of a cousin of it later on in the summer.
