The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
As soon as we arrived in Portland the California poppy became my favorite local wild flower but all of them are beautiful.
All the bud needs is a kiss from nature...

There were quite a lot of those whilst I was visiting gardens over the weekend. They are very unusual to look at.
