The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Ruth is right. When you see them hanging together in the Prado, Maja Desnuda is the better painting. (The left foot of the Maja Vestida is at an odd angle among other things.) However, El Quitasol is the picture I like best.
