The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Careful with the numbers now. A (stupid) pal of mine told his wife "You are the double of Cheryl Cole." When she was flattered but modestly insisted she didn't really see the similarity he said: "No, I mean she's 8 stone and you're 16 stone." She didn't share his sense of humour (but I did).
This was about 8 months ago and he still seems to be intact and the lady in question is now about 11 stone and looking good. "Win, Win... Cruel to be kind," he claims.
Happy birthday, for sure, and all the best to not-wife, but aren't you, Jams, too free with information? I mean, there could be sanctions applied if you are, you know how it goes...
O to be young again, Jams. I can't even remember life at 46.
