The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

There once was a young man from Wilton Who had am'rous designs on a Stilton but a slighted Caerphilly had him sent to the pillory and was rogered to death by John Milton
