The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
I spent 17 years in Portland, OR that has a climate and plantings very similar to England's but I never saw a yellow tree peony until now. It's lovely.
For some reason this makes me think of a ballerina dancing with here swirling dress :-)
