This was the official poster for Israel's Holocaust Remembrance Day. For me it is truly a powerful image.
My thanks to Snoopy for posting it and thus drawing it to my attention
Snoopy also provided a link to Midnight East which provides more background information regarding the image.
For information: the Hebrew caption reads Holocaust and Heroism Remembrance Day 5772. I had to ask Snoopy for a translation as I do not read Hebrew

Wow. What an amazing photograph.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting it, Jams!
It really is powerful.
ReplyDeleteYes, very powerful - beautiful to look at, sad to contemplate.
ReplyDeleteSO true, Syncy
ReplyDeleteFine and appropriate (and always devastating to contemplate its subject). I increasingly turn away, these days, from things I should address. Same thing happened to my mother at the age I am now. Increasingly I cannot face the worst of the TV news, and images like this make me pause, then try to change my thoughts. When I was young and hopeful I could take it, but increasingly, no more. But thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel Andrew I find it harder and harder with each year to address such matters. On the other hand, while things continue to move me, uplift me or anger me I know I am still the person I think I am.
ReplyDeletePerhaps I am not yet ready to think only of puppies and cushions!
