The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Temple of Love - Sisters of Mercy
Eldritch et al on Top of the Pops in 1992. Crappy video quality but it does have Ofra Haza in it
I was taught by the Sisters of Mercy for a while, not this lot though...
Sorry, jams; I couldn't resist the similarity of titles. Stella is a Leonard Cohen fan from early days, and his work and his voice have grown on me gradually. Any time I want to see or hear Leonard, just about any recording old or new, it's only a short walk away. The clip is apparently from the recent movie, which is now out on DVD.
Temple of Love? That's nowhere near the Tower of Song, is it?
ReplyDeleteAh Leonard.. now there's an artist who age does not dim (or U2!)

ReplyDeleteI am not much of a U2 fan.. I liked the right at the very beginning but thought they got pretty crappy pretty quickly!
ReplyDeleteLeonard Cohen on the other hand is always worth a listen... but not when depressed and with a razor blade close to hand!
I broke rather
