Today's Independent reports on a funny little incident when protestors discovered an undercover cop at a protest.
The incident happened on Wednesday when a hoodie-wearing interloper was discovered by protesters from the Occupy movement while they were attempting to take over a building near Piccadilly Circus in central London.
The interloper admitted that he was a Met officer at which point the protestors decided to circle him. The officer was allowed to reach the line of uniformed police who were kettling the protest, and they let him through.
Circling a cop at a protest here? Just for that I couldn't resist the title to this post!

Why, can't a cop join the Occupiers? Can't he protest these poor job conditions and restrains on beating up/tazering all kinds of protesters?
ReplyDeleteProbably for not enough tasering!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant title!
ReplyDeleteWhen the cops are policing some of the PCS demonstrations about terms and conditions etc some of them have expressed sympathy with the demonstrators. I suspect they wish they could join in because the changes affect them too.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't resist it Liz!
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day they are in the same boat. There will be a lot fewer cops in a few years
That was a good one but unfortunately it's become common practice for some N. American police forces to send provocateurs into peaceful demonstrations.
ReplyDeleteWe've had a couple of big scandals recently about undercover cops infiltrating activist groups.
