Phot Hunt RIP(ped)

I wasn't going to play today as I hadn't felt well enough to produce a photo for this week or search through my archives for a photo I could make to fit to the theme but I looked at TN Chick's site this week and I saw the sad news that this is going to be the very last hunt.

Jamie has been hosting Photo hunt for well over five years. I started contributing in June 2007 and have been posting almost every week since. Here are a some phots I poted to the hunt in the first two years of participating

Shirey, the not-wife doing her Sadako impression. This was my second entry to the hunt

Graves of four young men from the Pacific Island of Niue who served as soldiers in WWI but who died and were buried in Hornchurch, near where I live on the eastern edge of London.  Half a world away from home

Dave Brock on stage. Dave has been the driving force behind my favourite band Hawkwind for over 40 years

A picture of my old friend the crab spider

Proof that Stalin played the banjo!

A cairn on one ofthe Paps of Anu, Ireland

Each cross remembers the death of an RAF bomber crew in WWII. Nearly half of all RAF bomber crews were killed. Luckily my dad was not one of them!

A poignant piece for me. The two paintings in the centre are by my dear friend  Elahe Heidari. Elahe lives and works in Tehran. This was the first time her work was ever displayed publicly in England.

Flowers reflected on a stream in Bayeux

I would like to thank Jamie for her hard work in organising the hunt for so long. Without her efforts I would not have come into contact with so many great bloggers. It is also most definitely one of the reasons I started to take my photography far more seriously. For all of this I thank you.

  1. Nice take on the theme.

It's really so sad that this is the last hunt. I also started posting in 2007 but stopped for a while.

Hopefully someone will take over so we can continue the fun hunt.

    Have a fabulous weekend.

  2. Hi jams --

Photo Hunt was one reason I started taking more photos. And, like you, started taking more photos more seriously.

I've enjoyed "hunting" for other Photo Hunters' entries as well as hunting for suitable photos for each week's Photo Hunt meme.

Hope this won't be the last Photo Hunt week ever -- even if it's the last one organized by tnchick.

  8. I've been coming to see your photohunt for years, but much of this is new to me.

I'm so sad to see photohunt ending, even though I haven't been all that consistent in the last few weeks.

  9. Wonderful farewell to tnchick. I only joined this year but had been envious for a long time. I had originally thought this was only possible for wordpress bloggers until I discovered the facebook page. I really enjoyed it and hope that lots of people will go on with Gattina.

  10. Ian it's been an utter pleasure. Thanks to Jamie I've gotten to see so many blogs I would never have known and so many great photos and stories too.

Thanks Carver, it's been a lot of fun but it looks like the torch will be passed on

Me too Alice Audrey, but perhaps this is not the end after all

Thanks magic eye. Glad you like them!

I am glad Gattina is happy to pick up the baton. She is not alone. Perhaps it will be a meme that people will host in turns.

  11. What a great retrospective. It is sad to learn that TNChick is retiring but I hope that PH will reincarnate somewhere else. I too have taken photography more seriously, plus it's just plain fun to try to figure out something to post and then see what everyone else has done!

  12. I just love that pic of Shirley. And yes, what a shame tnchick has decided to fold. I only wish I'd joined in sooner.

  17. Love your collection, Jams, great post! The Hunt is part of my weekend, I think most of us hope it will continue. Probably under another name, but with the same spirit as initiated by Jamie. Whom I also thank for my avatar :)
