The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Ah they are red but the colour photos were not that great

Ah no they lived in a local park
This is great! Do they normally line up like that? What a photo-op!
They did indeed but they weren't easy to photograph as their resting spots were not so easy to see and they would dive in the water in a flash
I have had one at home for 33 years.They can get mean in the spring.They are an invasive species and force out locals. Supposedly they are not breeding.
Too cold for them to breed here mercifully. Last few times I went to the pond I couldn't see any.erhas they've been removed
