The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Mimi is contemplating how to evade my friend and former colleague, also named Mimi, who lives in Amsterdam and scrapes catgut with horsetails for a living. (Yes, I know; baroque violin strings are really sheep gut. Mimi has nothing to fear from Mimi, especially as Mimi is highly allergic to cats.)
