The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Poor Winston should have been depicted wearing a hat. His head seems almost as round as a basket ball.This may sound odd but are there statues and plaques honoring authors other than Shakespeare. One can find plaques around NYC devoted to authors. I never did find anything mentioning the troubled Stephen Crane who did reside in NYC.
I think it's a good image but from some viewpoints he looks a litle like a Doctor Who villain!We have a blue plaque scheme that homours where the famous dead lived. A lot of writers are honoured. Thee are quite a few statues of writers but not on my usual routes throuch central Lnodon.
I like it. Sort of Benjamin Franklin-ish, though.
