The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.
Beautiful photo. I like the texture of the waning flower, and the contrast of the purple and yellow colors.
I would never have guessed that was a tulip.
Thanks Catsynth, there is definitely something about flowers as they wane.It is a species tulip (tarda I think) they tend to open out in the sunshine
Old age is kind to flowers.
And to nurses too!
People are always taking photos of perfect flowers, but these are much more interesting!
Agreed. Declining flowers are more interesting in my view
I'd like to look half as good as this when I am in decline.
