The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

A sign to gladden the heart of a smartarse with a background in biochemistry
Personally I would have gone for the Ornithine cycle myself. (the Ornithine cycle is a process that creates urea from the amine part of excess amino acids). But then I am a smartarse too!

As a bit of a smart-arse with a background in biochemistry myself I remember seeing a photo years ago that showed Krebs cycle parked against railings in Cambridge - yes Sir Hans Krebs' very own bicycle, complete with basket. I found it very amusing. Krebs was at least 40% cycle, I'd say, don't you think so Sergeant Pluck? You can see him actually riding one of his cycles here: http://www.nature.com/nrm/journal/v1/n3/fig_tab/nrm1200_225a_ft.html
The cycle I see most often by the way - like you're interested - is Gibbs reflective cycle, 'beloved' of all nursing students... and easier to draw too.

Genius: this has REALLY made me chuckle

But MUCH less entertaining than this one.
Andrew that is brilliant. So that is the real Krebs cycle!
Glad you like it Dragonstar!
Glad you like it Lisa. The Gibbs cycle is a god one and very useful too!
I don't have a background in biochemistry but I appreciate the photo!
I assure you it will have every biochemist rolling in the aisles!
This raised a smile and a memory!
Have you seen "post no bills", Jams?
Haha A good one!
Excellent, but I'm with you and would've chosen the ornithine cycle too - I did my PhD on ornithine decarboxylase :)
Ah I would say great minds think alike Ruth but since you are Dr Ruth your mind is greater!
