Located in Victoria Gardens by the Houses of Parliamen this is one of about 12 copies of Rodin's Burghers of Calais in existence. I think is is a magnificent statue and is a photographers dream, even one of my own meager talent!
I will be putting up more pictures of this and other statues in around central London in due course on Plant Porn (see side bar for the link)

I love the pensive and almost anguished faces on the statues. Could it be that the pigeons of London have not been so kind to these majestic masterpieces?
LOL. I think the pensive faces might be down to the fact that they were up to be killed by an English King (the story of the Burghers goes bak to the 14th century and the Hundred Years War)..
THe propspect of being disembowelled probably made them meditate on the nature of things!
I remember The Burghers... from Art class at school, thanks for the memory jolt.
The IT dept at work has classed your blog as pornography so I can only visit at night now. Typically if you put the company's initials and the IT dept together you get T.W.I.T. It's a bit disappointing when you don't even have to try and make them look stoopid.
The Poor Mouth is porn????????? I suppose it serves me right for blogging a pair of boob shaped mountains! As for Alison Lapper, I am sure the TWITs must see that as pure filth!
So, because I'm now a frequent visitor here, does that make ME a porn addict? Shudder at the thought.
Jams, Thanks to you and Pisces, I just may leave this World a bit more cultured and educated, despite my efforts to the contrary. :)
The Burghers story has piqued my interest.
Hmm, is breastfeeding is porn, these statues definitely are. I always knew there was something pornographic about you. Pic nr.4 is excellent. Where is the story?
