On 23 May I posted and item about the campaign to save Naznin Mahabad Fatehi, an 18-year old Iranian girl sentenced to death for killing a man who ambushed and tried to rape her.
There is some good news: According to the Save Nazanin website, her death sentence has been commuted by Ayatollah Shahroudi (the Head of Judiciary). A retrial has been announced and Nazanin's case will be sent to a lower court for further investigation.
Nazanin is not out of the woods yet: there is a chance that she will be sentenced to death once again but the important thing for now is that Nazanin will not be executed in the near future.

I remember reading your original post on the subject
I feel a little bit relieved she has some kind of temporary reprieve, at least for now. Lets hope she has a fair re-trial and lives. The pressure needs to be kept up on the authorities.
Here's hop[ing Obokun, but you are right, the pressure needs to be maintained
when people live in chosen ignorance of others pain is how it all start I just pray shes not raped in jail never know how cold a jail can be just look at u.s.a.s treatment of people .But then not all human are so inhumain i think many have found humanity .
Agreed Onyeka, it time for Iran to abolish the death penalty
Here's hoping that the authorities decide she has been punished enough sonshine. What she did was clearly self defence. I know some do find redemption in prison but I am sure she would far prefer to find it as a free woman!
