Robyn Hitchcock at the Three Kings

Here are two photographs I took of Robyn performing at a benefit for Medecins Sans Frontieres at the Three Kings in Clerkenwell. It was touch and go whether I would be well enough to attend - My rib had bee pretty painful all week. Fortunately I was. Robyn's MSF benefits are particularly entertaining as the sets consist entirely of covers. Last year it was the White Album, a year before it was naff 70s hits (nobody does Funkytown better than Robyn!). This year he covered Piper at the Gates of Dawn and threw in a selection of Syd Barrett covers for good measure.

It was paricularly nice to meet for the first time a number of people I had gotten to know through the Vegetable Friends Yahoo group, including Tulloch, Grimble and Percy the Ratcatcher.

Hmm.. loud shirts are trademark. He must scour the Oxfams of this great nation for his stage wear!

I used to have "Funkytown" as my ring tone. With that shirt someone might mistake Robyn for Jimmy Buffet. What a sad state of affairs that would be to have people clamoring and jostling him to play "Margaritaville." :(

On a charity gog night I have no doubt Robyn would happily play it!

He can happily play it, while I happily cover my ears. I have a list of songs that I would die happy if I never, ever heard them again. Margaritaville places somewhere in the top 25.

LOL if I win the lottery I will pay for Robyn to stand outside your house and serenade you with all the songs you would rather lop your ears off than hear again!

It depends on which bloggers, Mullet!!

I've now met 6 people I've first encountered via the internet. Five of these were though music groups.

There are some people I would like to meet but there are quite a few I have encoutered where I am glad that there is an ocean or a continent continuing to divide us!
