The title of this blog comes from a Gaelic expression -"putting on the poor mouth"-which means to exaggerate the direness of one's situation in order to gain time or favour from creditors.

Blackadder - Election special
Blackadder is easily my favourite comedy. This clip is from the first episode of the Blackadder the third featuring the Dunny on the Wold by election. Enjoy. My damned ribs are playing up again - inflamed cartilage. I had better not laugh...
Jams! I've been neglecting you, and the day Elastic gives you an award, you do this! How could you possibly be more clever?! I, too, love BlackAdder (codpiece made of metal). This season was superb! Probably one of the only comedies in the history of television that actually made me laugh out loud. (
Now that did make me laugh! There are some things English and American voters share; this was a grand send-up of at least one of them... and all done without e-voting equipment! Good delivery, good timing, great comedy... I must seek out more Blackadder.
Glad to be of service Elizabeth. Blackadder wass truly wonderful. Okay the first series was patchy (but the episodes with teh Infanta and the Witchsmeller pursuivant were great!) THe second, third and fourth series were classics as was the xmas special. One thing to avoid though is Back and Forth commissioned for the Millennium Domw.. That is a poor end to what was a glorious comerdy.
It;s well worth looking out for Steve. The third series had some other classic episodse, icluding a take on the Pimpernel, Doctor Johnson, Highwaymen and Stephen Fry doing a wonderful turn as the Duke of Wellington.. Okay hostorically utterly inaccurate but who caares!!!
Some shows really do stand the test of time Ren. I really enjoy reruns of Biko when they are shown. Ah you like the Kumars and number 42. Meera Syal is great dressed up as the granny (she is about my age in reality)
I LUUUURRRRVE me some Hugh Laurie. I don't watch his show, "House," but I did notice that they use Massive Attack's song "Teardrop" as their show theme. I also love Mr. Bean. Maybe it's time I should check for Blackadder on DVD at the library.
I used to think BlackAdder was cute in a weird way (meaning R.A. himself), but years later when I actually saw Mr. Bean, without the wigs and fancy outifts then I realized he is just simply not in any way attractive.
It's well worth the watch ewbl bt for God's sake DON't use it to teach your kids English history!!!! I've only ever watched a couple of episodes of House.. it looked okay but we kept on missing it and them....
Rowan Atkinson first grabbed our attention in a sketch show called Not the Nine O Clock news.. Sadly he is no hunk or adonis, ELizabeth!

I like on BBC America the old Dr Who and The Persuaders. I also like the talk show with the East Indian family.
I like classic TV now better than when it was new. I didn't know how good I had it. They weren't as cutesy as modern TV. Not just one liners.
