Castro joins the tinfoil hat brigade

Castro points to alien implant site

Fidel Castro has joined the rabble of idiots who spout ludicrous theories about the events of September 11 conspiracy. He has accused the US of spreading disinformation about the attacks that took place six years ago.

In a 4,256-word article read on Cuban television last night (Suddenly sound bites seem a lot more attractive), Castro asserted that the Pentagon was hit by a rocket, not a plane, because no traces were found of its passengers. "Only a projectile could have created the geometrically round orifice created by the alleged airplane," he said. "We were deceived as well as the rest of the planet's inhabitants," he said. This is lie. The remains the crew and passengers of American Airlines flight 77 were found at the Pentagon crash site, and positively identified by DNA.

As for the attacks on the World Trade Centre in New York, Mr Castro wrote that the way the passenger jets crashed into the twin towers on September 11 and the data from the plane's black boxes "do not correspond with the criteria of mathematicians, seismologists, and information and demolition specialists". (err, I have no idea what the hell Castro is saying here).

I have one word to describe Castro and that is “TWAT”. Perhaps he should have ordered the playing of “Hard Rain” so as to give a certain ersatz Mexican an erection....

I guess this proves Castro is still alive. Who else could write a screed so absolutely full-blown crazy! Tinfoil is one thing; sometimes I wear it myself if there's enough basis for doing so... but this bit of nuttiness is created from whole cloth.

I do hope that when Castro passes, relations between the U.S. and Cuba improve. There's some music I'd really like to hear live and in person... and our government, not theirs, forbids those groups from coming here.

For the record, the above is not hypothetical: I was already seated in the outdoor shell at Houston's Miller Outdoor Theatre, eagerly awaiting hearing the justly famous jazz pianist Chucho Valdes and his band, when it was announced that they had been stopped at the Havana airport and denied permission to enter the United States. The promoter presented a fine local Cuban-style band instead, but I was very disappointed.

I think it proves he's alive too... Hearing him deliver a speech should be classified as torture and outlawed under the Geneva Convention!

It sounds like an utterly crass thing to say but I bet the conspiacy nuts are creaming their pants over it.

As for what happens after Cuba goes, I would give it four, five years and then the apparatus of his regime will be gone.

There are a hell of a lot of unanswered questions about 9/11 but the conspiracy wingnuts are usually not asking them. They are too busy with crazy theories about missiles hitting the Pentagon and remote control planes.

True, anything of the the magnitude of 9/11 will beg hell of a lot of questions, many of the the answers will be uncomforable to say the least. That is the way of things.

As for the attacks, they went pretty much as seen. The stuff about missiles and controlled demolitions are simply nonsense.

What do you expect from a man whose henchman (Che) planned a series of bombings in NYC in the 1960's? What does one expect from a madman that butchers his own people.

This doesn't prove that Castro is alive. He didn't actually appear. But I do have to doubt he's dead, though it does make a rather compelling story.

Leaders like Castro who have lived long and had fairly incredible political careers often take on bizarre behavior in old age. I respected him immensely for condemning the 9/11 attacks and offering condolence for those who lost their lives in the tragedy. From the sounds of it, he hasn't joined the Loose Change lunatics in implicating the U.S. government but nevertheless.. I'm just not sure why people have this fascination with 9/11 conspiracies. The age of information brings with it amazing advantages but I can't help but think some of it has spawned more of this kind of thinking.

On the other hand it is a turnaround from his condemnation following the events, Beakerkin.

I doubt he is dead either David. It certainly raised my hackles.

The 9/11 conspiracy industry makes me shake my head in dismay Dave. Catro's comments were pretty crass and play into the tinfoil brigade.

I agree. I'm not sure what sparked the movement exactly..

I blame the Andorrans. They are usually behind these things!!!

I'm with Dave - I admire Castro - were it not for the US blockade, Cuba may well have been a socialist success. Even under the blockade Castro's Cuba still managed to produce one of the most formidable medical communities and also to create a working model for the abolition of illiteracy.
His views on 9-11 aside, Castro is considerably less looney than the likes of Tony Bliar and his evangelical campaign for sainthood.

Yes, by all means, let's just embrace irascible dictators who murder or imprison all those who oppose them and have secrety little Death Squads working 24/7. Better yet, why doesn't Castro and Mugabe duet on a song together?

Back to the your post, jams- There's a book written by a former FBI agent that had uncovered a lot of unreported facts about the Oklahoma City bombing, and 9/11, and its relation to one another. I believe 9/11 to be absolutely real. I also believe that our government either knew about it before hand and turned a blind eye, or actively participated.

I wonder that too Pisces. Things may have turned out differently. Personally The healthcare provision does certainly seem to be very good, probably one of the best in the developing world. But there are plenty of things in the debit column.

I don't thing 9/11 was an inside job, not by any means. My best guess is that the US inteligence services were caught with their trousers badly down. While intelligence has to be lucky all the time and terrorists only once, it is likely that incompetence, bureaucracy and a bit of complacency were contributing factors.

Sounds like standard US policy for South America.
The fact that Castro has survived numerous assassination attempts by US spooks and has outlasted numerous US presidents is testiment not to iron fisted dictatorship but rather to his popularity.
Equating Castro with Mugabe is like equating Ralph Nader with Pat Buchanan.
Read a little history lady - neither Fox nor US politicians will privide you with historical facts.
